Packing dimensions: what to compare before shipment
Compare the package as well as the machine
Unit dimensions help with access and operation planning. Packing dimensions and gross weight help with an initial shipping discussion. Do not substitute one for the other, and do not assume that a photo of an unpacked machine represents its final shipping package.
Keep every packing figure attached to its model version
The earlier brochure and the revised configuration sheet contain different package dimensions for some machines. Do not combine a current machine photograph with an older package figure and treat that as a final shipping record. Ask for a packing list that identifies the full model, selected configuration, package count, gross weight and measurements for the order being quoted. Use website figures to start the discussion, then replace them with the confirmed shipment data.
Ask what is included in the package
Request confirmation of the machine, controller, accessories and documents included in the quoted package. Ask whether any parts ship separately, what packing method will be used and whether the quoted dimensions include the complete package. Any stacking or loading arrangement should be confirmed for the actual shipment.
Prepare an enquiry your logistics team can use
Provide model quantities, destination and the delivery point needed for the quotation. Ask for a model-by-model packing list with final gross weights and dimensions. Keep freight and delivery assumptions separate from machine specifications, and confirm the commercial terms in the written quotation rather than inferring them from a product page.
Separate the machine record from the shipment record
| Order field | What it should identify |
|---|---|
| Model and quantity | Each configuration on its own line, with the corresponding unit count |
| Contents | Machine, controller, documents and any separately packed accessories |
| Package size | Length, width and height of the final package, with units stated |
| Weight | Gross packed weight for the actual package |
| Destination | Country, delivery point and the agreed shipping or collection arrangement |
